What’s so interesting about MT washi tape?

As the “original” brand that spawned the entire category of washi tapes, MT masking tape is made with high quality rice paper and a special blend of non-toxic glue. 

Washi tape is a material which is beautiful yet useful at the same time. You can tear it, stick it, reposition it, and write on it. People often use washi tapes for fun craft projects or it can be applied as washi tape art as well.

MT washi tapes are re-usable and water resistant. Even after a long period of time (3 years or more), MT tapes do not leave glue or oil stains on the surfaces. However, nobody is sure how “sticky” MT tapes are, or if they might inflict any damage to our other precious stationery, like Traveler’s Notebook refills and inserts, origami papers, or different types of paper. Will these pretty tapes damage my precious journals as I use them generously on a daily basis? Have you wondered about the same?

Since washi tape is waterproof, so we would like to test its water resistant with the following experiment. We created a frame using washi tape and paint within it with fountain pen ink. It doesn’t matter though we accidentally paint on the tape. After we removed the tapes (after the ink is dried), we have a beautiful mixture of ink in a perfect square.
